Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia

Long Service Awards

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Victoria, British Columbia

It is my honour to welcome you all to Government House. You are here because of your dedication and commitment to service. I wish to congratulate you for this most tremendous milestone in your careers.

As in every democratic society our elected officials make law, but it is our civil service who invariably implements them directly with the good citizens of British Columbia. Tonight we not only recognize your service to BC, but we also thank you for your energy, for your attention to detail, for your long service that has contributed greatly to the growth and development of our fine province.

Where some have perhaps moved to other careers, you have persevered; you are now senior members of our important segment of society. We offer you are most heartfelt thanks.

We have prepared a wonderful feast for you and have some great musical entertainment. Please make yourselves comfortable and enjoy your evening. You have earned this special recognition. Once again, congratulations.

Honorary Aides-de-Camp:
- Deputy Warden Patrick Doherty
