Honourable Minister, Deputy Ministers, recipients and guests:
I would like to welcome you all here to Government House. You have arrived here tonight because you have chosen a life of service. Some people come to their life purpose by chance – they are born to a family that owns oil or large ships, for example. Others make a decision to be self-employed, being an independent business person. But those of you here tonight have chosen a life of service to others. I am sure that you have experienced moments of doubt where you questioned your choices. I am sure there were moments when you felt like doing something else, but in the end you decided to continue on this path of service. It is said that service to others is its own reward, but I know that this axiom is not always supported by the “on the ground” job conditions. Yet you have persevered and now you are here to accept a small token, a moment of recognition, our thanks to you for making a choice for service to others, and for continuing on all these years. Thank you. Thank you for your commitment, your energy and for your dedication to your chosen profession.
