Remarks by the Honourable Steven L. Point, OBC
Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia

Reception In Honour Of The Consular Corps Of
British Columbia

Tuesday, May 6, 2008
Victoria, British Columbia

Premier Campbell; Honourable Ministers; Mr. Joao Luis Laranjeira de Abreu, Consul General of Portugal and Dean of the Consular Corps; members of the Consular Corps; distinguished guests:

Welcome all of you to Government House. On this our sesquicentennial celebration in BC it is fitting to come together in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect.

Although there are no easy answers to some of our world problems, there are some matters of mutual interest that can be addressed and even solved by dialogue and some tea. I welcome the opportunity that these occasions afford because it is through building relationships that we may find solutions to even the most difficult matters.

In BC we have much to be thankful for and even cause to celebrate. I ask that you join me this evening in celebration and would encourage your productive dialogue towards a better tomorrow for us all. Thank you.

Honorary Aides-de-Camp:
- Lieutenant-Colonel Wayne Dauphinee
