Remarks by the Honourable Steven L. Point, OBC
Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia

39th Canadian Brigade Group’s Garrison
Officers’ Military Ball

Saturday, April 12, 2008
Victoria, British Columbia

Colonel Richmond; Rear Admiral Pile; General Woidens; Captain David;
Brigade Chief Warrant Officer Randy Evans; Deputy Commissioner Robert Morrison of the RCMP; and guests:

Thank you to Colonel Richmond for your invitation to me to attend this magnificent event. The 39 Canadian Brigade Group is Canada’s Army Reserve in BC, committed to high readiness in response to domestic emergencies and to the augmentation of the Regular Force overseas operations. The Garrison Officers’ Military Ball is an annual event held for over 60 years now.

This year we are celebrating many anniversaries including the 100th Anniversary of the Mount Rocky Mountain Rangers; 100th Anniversary of the Empress Hotel; 125 years for the BC Regiment; and 150 years of BC becoming a Crown Colony.

I wish to extend my welcome to you all and to thank you, on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II whom I represent, for your continued service to the citizens of Canada. Thank you.

Honorary Aides-de-Camp:
- Lieutenant-Colonel Philip Sherwin
