
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S STATEMENT
ON SUSPECT’S ARREST
February 5, 2009
VICTORIA – The Honourable Steven Point, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, has been informed by the RCMP that a suspect has been arrested in relation to fire at his home on February 1, 2009.
“We are pleased the RCMP has made progress in the case. They have worked very hard and we appreciate their efforts on our behalf. Gwen and I are very grateful to them,” said His Honour. “We hope we can now start the healing process and someday be able to put this behind us. We would also like to take the opportunity to once again thank everyone for their terrific personal and community support.”
The suspect is scheduled to appear in Chilliwack court this afternoon.
The Lieutenant Governor and the RCMP will be available for comment in Chilliwack this afternoon.
