Winners Announced For The Lieutenant Governor’s Awards Of Excellence In British Columbia Wines


VICTORIA – The winners have been chosen for the 2008 Lieutenant Governor’s Awards of Excellence in British Columbia Wines This year 218 wines were submitted from 60 wineries across the province. The winners are:

  • 2006 Black Arts Syrah
  • Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estate
  • 2005 Proprietors’ Grand Reserve Shiraz
  • Red Rooster Winery
  • 2006 Malbec
  • Sandhill Wines
  • 2006 Cabernet Franc
  • Stoneboat Vineyards
  • 2006 Pinot Noir
  • Sumac Ridge Estate Winery
  • 2004 Steller’s Jay Brut
  • Wild Goose Vineyards
  • 2007 Autumn Gold
  • 2007 Pinot Gris

His Honour, the Honourable Steven Point, will visit the winning wineries on July 29, 30 and 31 to present the Awards. His Honour has invited members of the Consular Corps of British Columbia to accompany him when he makes these presentations so they can gain knowledge of British Columbia’s renowned wine industry.

All wineries in British Columbia were invited to submit their wines for judging by a panel of wine industry professionals. Wines submitted had to be from 100% British Columbian grown grapes and produced in province to be eligible. Background information available here.
