The Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II

Version française

On February 6, Canadians will mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. This is only the second time in history that we have had the opportunity to honour the 60 year reign of a Sovereign, the previous being the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. Throughout 2012, events will be happening across the country to celebrate this momentous occasion.

For 60 years, Her Majesty has exemplified the true meaning of public service. This year provides an opportunity to highlight those Canadians who have dedicated themselves to service, community and country. The creation of the Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way to honour Her Majesty and recognize Canadians who have made significant contributions to their communities.

Additional information on the Diamond Jubilee Medal and how to nominate deserving individuals is available here.

Her Majesty has visited Canada on more than 20 occasions, each time strengthening her bond with Canadians and acknowledging Canada's special connection to the monarchy. I encourage everyone to participate in the Diamond Jubilee activities taking place in 2012 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's stable and enduring relationship with our country and its people. Long live The Queen!
